For the last few days I have been spending some time with my family. I always find my way back to St. Louis. I still have a lot of big tournaments coming up and a lot of chances to Win. This will be my first Southern Nationals event and I hope to make a good showing. After Memphis I will head back to the East coast for the Erick C Yetter Championship. I am looking forward to this one big time because I love this course. Today I am going to buy my brother  a skateboard because he has been asking me since I’ve got back in town. I remember what its like to be a kid. It feels good to do nice things for my family when I get the chance.

This is upsetting to talk about but the story must be told. With 7 strokes on  Feldberg and 20 holes left to play,  the odds were in my favor.  My first 10 holes in the final round were right on pace to win the tournament. Unconsciously throwing an upshot out of bounds on hole 11 was the start to a awful last 10 holes. Again on hole 13 another upshot just a foot OB.  Hole number 15 hits me with another 5, battling back trying to salvage a half broken round I stare our last hole with a one stroke lead over Dave Feldberg and Matt Orum . Playing the safe right side of the long and elevated final hole my drive landed in a tricky spot, with the upshot just OB past the basket. 15ft putt left,  forcing a three way tie breaker for the lead with Myself, Feldberg, and Orum!  One of my shortest misses of 2010,  my heart dropped as did my putter just low of chain high. This tournament was one of my biggest upsets of all time, looking back I feel like my game plan was not attacking the course like in the previous rounds. Just a little too conservative  on the last day. Landing in 3rd after leading yet another tournament will just have to be another learning experience. Pennsylvania was fun even though the tournament didn’t land in my favor. Mike Solt AKA Mr. Disc Golf was nice enough to let a bunch of us disc golfers stay at his place for the week. Now I’m back home in St. Louis for a few days visiting the family and healing my last upset. I will leave soon on my way to Southern Nationals  in Memphis TN. I’m meeting up with my Uncle Dave Mac tomorrow to talk about some new changes for my Website. Stay tuned for new updates in the  next upcoming  months.

We are going to the course in a crowd today. A bunch of us are staying together at Mike Solts’ house. Woke up in a house full of Frisbee freaks ate breakfast and now we will head to Blue Mountain for a day of practice. I have been in town for a few days now. Carman my girlfriend will video tape footage of the course today. Hopefully we can get shoot some good clips for the site.

This is some wicked footage of my ace at the Scandinavian Open!

Getting into Connecticut a few days early for some good practice ended up paying off. The Cranbury Park is a very beautiful place to play Disc Golf. Round one started off really well on my part, shooting a hot round of 9 under and taking the early lead by four strokes. I must have thought I had it wrapped up early on backing up my -9 with an even par. Looking back I really wasn’t that committed to my shots during the second round and Bradly Willams grabbed the lead by 3 strokes. Day two was scheduled for 18 holes and a final 9, with rain in the forecast. Round 1 day 2, I got back into the groove feeling comfortable and putting well with my new blue Wizards. I started off birding 2 of the first 4 holes, at this point I was feeling like I was going to shoot about -9 again. Because the course is so tight and technical a few bad kicks put me at a final score of -6. Putting me back in the lead by 2 over Bradly Williams and 3 over Nate Doss going into the final 9. The final 9 started off competitive back and fourth. Nate Doss came on strong catching all 3 strokes in 9 holes. By the end of 9 holes Nate and I were tied for the lead. Jeremy Koling played a good final 9 coming back for 3rd place. Brad Williams seemed to give up on the 4th hole when the storms came. Brad did not have an umbrella or any towels, I actually felt bad for him. Steve Brinster ended up in 5th place one behind Brad. Nate and I played off for the Win. Windy conditions had us tied after 2 holes, Nate was up first on the 3rd and last hole.  Watching Nate throw Ob early left I knew what not to do. My throw was conservative on the right side of the fairway with an easy up and down for the win. Hopefully I can keep a wining streak alive going into Palmerton Pa for the next NT stop.

Life is always changing and moving quickly. Alot has happened since my last post. Sweden was one of the best adventures so far in my life. Winning  my 2nd A tier  of 2010 in Stockholm was a great accomplishment in my disc golf career. This story is quite old but I want to do a little catching up. My second tournament in Europe was the Scandanavian Open Major. Dave Feldberg edged me out in the last 2 rounds but I was able to catch an amazing ace on the 9th hole in the last round. It would have been nice to win that tournament, but it just wasn’t my time. Europe was way more expensive than I would have liked but the experience was well worth it. Following down the line of tournaments Worlds was next. Getting into Crown Point Indiana with 5 days to practice I thought this would be plenty of time to wire the tracks. Practice was going good all week. Once the tournament started my mental focus felt stronger than ever, but my  putting wasn’t the best. Looking back  I must have missed at leat 3 short putts with in 25 ft each round. Paul Ulibarri was in the lead just one in front of me for what seemed like the whole tournament. Going into the last round I still felt like there was time to Win the 2010 World title. Feeling really good about my game during the last round I was able to rally up a good round up until my last 4 holes. One short spit out broke my confidence on hole 15. Easy birdie on hole 16, than another spit out for birdie on 17.  Hole eighteen was a tight tunnel shot about 400 ft. With just a little too much frustration I power, an unneeded error on hole 18 down the home stretch. I bogey on hole 18,  just one hole left in my attempt at the 2010 World Championships. Up hill 375ft hyzer all the way, thinking I needed an ace to get into the final nine my drive ends up 50 ft behind the basket. Badly wanting to sink my last putt for a little redemption, it looked golden out of my hand. Off the rim into the chains splash out, drop in par missing the final nine by just one stroke. Sad story given that I missed the final nine by only 2 strokes in 2009. With just a few too many spit outs I had to change something. How about brand new putters I thought. I retired the red Majic for a couple Wizards  that were in the stash. Next stop Pittsburgh Pennsylvania land of many trees and many hills. Knob Hill and Moraine park were beautiful courses. Short story Nate Doss beat me out by 3 strokes. I tied with Avery Jenkins and George smith. 2nd place was a bummer because all I had to do was make a few more putts to win. Finally catching up now with the recent Vibram Open in Leicester Massachusetts. Because my putting was still suffering at this time, Pete Johnson a fellow frisbee freak hooked me up with 2 chalky blue Wizards right after Pittsburg.  Just what the docter ordered. Once I got my hands on these 2 premium putters it was like a dream. My putt was definitely coming back around. Spending more than a little time practicing for the Vibram I felt prepared mentally and physically. I was doing some endurance training during the week to feel stronger once the tournament came. Putting started to feel easy during my 3 rounds at Vibram National Tour. What a close battle this tournament between Matt Orum and I. Coming down to the last few holes we were close all round and tied on hole 18. We both power or drives way up the fairway. Notorious hole 18 at Mapel Hill disc golf course is an island green. Watching my good friend Matt Orum throw his upshot slightly right catching the bad end of a kick OB was not the way I pictured the tournament ending. My final upshot was just a hyzer flip beat up wizard. With a short putt for the win I finally captured my first NT of 2010. What a memorable tournament and another learning experience. Disc golf is always teaching me something about my life.

If anyone has cool ideas for my website PLEASE  send me a message and let me know. Peace Out

I always find my way back home to St.Louis. Maybe its my family, the beautiful courses, all the discs in my basement.  Its just about time to get my own place, or think about an RV. Living on the road is totally awesome all except the long drives. I’m looking forward to worlds big time. Right now I’m trying to decide if I should fly to Europe for the A tier and Major. It would be nice to win another Major, but I also need to practice for worlds. Only time will tell on this decision.  If I practice hard for worlds I know this can be my year. I think about the 2010 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS every second of every day. I thought last year was my time to shine, but my disc golf bag was stolen 2 weeks before the tournament. That shouldn’t even be an excuse for missing the final 9 by 2 strokes in 2009. This year is flying like always.  Still have not won an NT in 2010. Hopefully I’m due for one soon. Winning all the Majors would make up for more than a few bad defeats, but I must respect all the talent in the game these days. So many players have mad skills, one day we should all work together on making our sport Big time so we can all make a living following our dream. This game has given me many life lessons and will always be there when I need to learn more. For those who keep tabs I will continue to share my words. I’m working on getting the website a little boost sometime soon I’m even getting a little bored looking at that same picture from USDGC.

I arrived in Minnesota on Monday, planning to have a couple extra days to practice. Driving through I decided to stop and see an old friend Chris Schmidt. Carman and I stayed with Chris on Monday night with the intentions on leaving early Tuesday to go practice the Majestic courses. Waking up I could tell the weather wasn’t going to be too cooperative. With rain in the forecast for the Cities we decided to stay an extra night in Austin and just play the weekly they have. Once I got into the Cities Highland Hills was the first stop. I enjoy playing at Highland because of all the elevation, I was shredding this course in practice. Blue Ribbon is a beautiful course with lots of chances to birdie, it’s definitely one of my favorite courses. Going into the tournament on Friday our first round was at Blue Ribbon. I started off pretty slow, just not being able to shake off the birdie bogey train. The ride lasted for sixteen holes… birdie… bogey… birdie… bogey. Due to some sever weather our round was put on hold with eleven holes left. After a long wait the tournament director was ready to tell us the outcome. They decided that the round would be canceled for the day and we would continue our round on Saturday. I did not like final decision because I wanted to play more holes. Arriving on Saturday to finish my eleven holes, I felt like I needed to get every single birdie to catch up with the rumors of hot scores. My round we pretty good, but I still wanted to play all 27 holes.  At Highland on Sunday I missed my first three birdie holes but turned it around and caught fire shooting 14 under, 2 behind a smoking round from lefty Devan Owens.  I missed the final 9 by one stroke for the second year in a row. This one hurt but it will only make me stronger.
